Your Questions Answered
We understand you may have questions about attending an Indian wedding. Here are some answers to help you prepare for this joyous occasion.
What are important things to note?
- You will want to enable international data roaming or purchase an Indian SIM or eSIM card.
- Either option above can be used to coordinate with our Indian numbers through WhatsApp, which we will share with confirmed guests.
- Ask for a physical airline ticket to use at the Udaipur Airport kiosk to get WiFi codes for free internet.
What should I wear to the wedding?
Traditional Indian attire is encouraged. For women, sarees, lehengas or kurta sets are ideal, while men can wear sherwanis or suits. Refer to this link for more ideas!
Feel free to wear standard Western/American wedding attire instead. Comfort is key, as the celebrations are vibrant and lively!
Please note that we ask that guests wear shades of yellow during the Haldi event on Thursday, December 11th.
Where is the wedding venue located?
The wedding will take place at the Tathastu Heritage Resort in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Do I need a visa to travel to India?
Yes, in addition to a valid passport, most international guests will require a visa. We recommend applying for an eVisa through the official Indian government website at least a month prior to travel, and remember to bring multiple printed copies with you at all times.
What is the schedule for the wedding events?
The wedding festivities span over two days, starting with the Haldi ceremony on December 11th, followed by the Sangeet that night, and culminating in the wedding ceremony (“Pheras”) and reception on December 12th.
Are there any recommended accommodations nearby?
We intend to coordinate and partner with nearby hotels once we have a better understanding of the number of guests planning to attend.
Will transportation be provided for guests?
We will not be able to coordinate transportation for all guests, but please feel free to reach out to us and we can help you prepare.
What cuisine will be served?
All food will be vegetarian and we will not be able to accommodate non-vegetarian requests. However, a generous mix of Indian and Western/American cuisine will be offered throughout each day.
Similarly, alcohol will not be served at the venue.
How should I travel to the Wedding destination?
We recommend flying into either Mumbai or Delhi International Airports and then taking a local flight to Udaipur. Please plan for an extended layover in order to accommodate any immigration/customs delays.
What else is there to do there?
Udaipur is a beautiful area with plenty of tourist attractions, with links below in the Resources section.
During the 12th morning and afternoon, please feel free to visit locations nearby as the ceremony will take place later in the day.
What should I know about food & water?
If you aren’t experienced with India travel, the most important things to consider are to drink bottled water only, and to avoid eating from street food vendors unless you feel comfortable.
Do you have a wedding registry?
Due to the difficulty in traveling with gifts and the apartment lifestyle, we’re not expecting to set up a material gift registry. However, if you prefer to contribute, we have set up a “honeymoon fund” (link here) to help cover costs of the wedding and honeymoon. Thank you for anything you feel comfortable contributing!
